The Formula 1 race is on this weekend in Las Vegas. This highly technical, big production event draws an international crowd that loves showing off and innovation in equal measure.
Many years ago I was lucky to go to a Formula 1 race. At the time, I knew about the coordinated pit teams and how fast they can change a tire (under 2 seconds!) in but I had no idea that much of the tech and engineering that goes into these cars, ends up in ours. Anti-lock brakes, air bags, turbo engines for fuel efficiency all came from Formula 1.
